Telehealth for Medical Marijuana Now Available

Updated: Jun 10, 2024

Florida Senate Bill 344, Physician Certifications for the Medical Use of Marijuana

Physician Certifications for the Medical Use of Marijuana; Authorizing qualified physicians to perform patient examinations and evaluations through telehealth for renewals of physician certifications for the medical use of marijuana, etc.

Effective Date: 7/1/2023

So what does this mean for you as the patient? If you have not been a patient long enough to remember telehealth, also known as telemedicine, then your next appointment for a recommendation renewal may become less of an inconvenience. This is, if your "current" marijuana physician provides telehealth as an option for medical marijuana recommendation renewal. If you are switching to a different physician, despite already being a registered & licensed marijuana card holder, you will be considered a new patient to the clinic you are switching to. You would not be eligible for telehealth until first seen in clinic. Telehealth allows you to schedule a virtual appointment with your physician rather than having to physically appear for an appointment. There may be different options for the virtual appointment depending on the clinic. A live video feed, however, is a must. Much like the virtual appointments some may have experienced with their primary care.

One huge advantage to this bill is more appointment availability for patients. Particularly if you have been a patient who forgot to renew a recommendation. You may likely be able to schedule an appointment within 72 hours to renew your recommendation and shop for your particular product. If you would like to further discuss, schedule an appointment with one of our advisors and lets talk cannabis.
